About Blade & Basin

Blade & Basin helps you pick a deodorant, body wash or razor by reading the label first. We read the ingredient list on each product and tell you what it shows.

What we do, and what we don't

• We read the label. For every product we show, we read its listing ourselves and write down where and when. When a listing shows an ingredient list or Drug Facts box, we use it. When it shows none, the page says “No list shown” and we go by the title and details only.
• We use one rule per pick, and we print the rule on the page.
• We show the price per ounce, not just the pack price, because packs hold different amounts.
• We are not doctors. For a skin problem or a sweating problem, ask your doctor.

Who runs it

Erin Rose, founder and editor. Erin also founded CareCost, a healthcare pricing data company. Her work is checking claims against primary sources: labels, spec sheets and official records. Every article is bylined "By Erin Rose."

How we make money

Rules that keep our picks independent

• We pick by the rule written on each page, not by what earns us more.
