Deodorant · Checked list
Which deodorants are really aluminum-free?
These 21 deodorants list no aluminum on the label. Crystal and other “mineral” deodorants do: they use potassium alum, an aluminum salt. Aluminum-free deodorant fights odor. It does not stop sweat.

- Best for men: the same rule, sold for men or women and men.
- Best whole-body: the same rule among sticks the maker sells for underarms, feet and groin.
A product wins one role (whole-body first). A tie in stars goes to the product with more ratings. Sensitive underarms: no baking soda, no fragrance and no scent oils on the label, no dye, and at least 500 ratings; then the highest star rating. Prices on Amazon, November 1, 2026.5
Cheapest per ounce
Speed Stick Aluminum Free Men's Deodorant, Regular, 4-pack
$0.75 an ounce.6
Best for sensitive underarms
Hume Supernatural Aluminum Free Deodorant, Unscented, 2-pack

Looks aluminum-free but isn't
The front of the box can say one thing while the ingredient list says another. Four things to check.
Mineral and crystal deodorants use an aluminum salt
The Crystal mineral deodorant stick says “Aluminum Chloride & Paraben Free” in its Amazon title. Its ingredient list is one item: potassium alum.8 Salt of the Earth, which also uses potassium alum, says it “is an aluminium salt, so we don't call those products aluminium-free.”9 We left these off the list.
One brand can sell both kinds
Lume's own page lists an aluminum-free solid stick and a “Sweat Control” stick that has aluminum sesquichlorohydrate in it.10 Check the ingredient list for the exact product you buy.
“Antiperspirant” in the title is not aluminum in the stick
The Amazon title of the Speed Stick pack in our list says “Underarm Antiperspirant”. The ingredient list has no aluminum and no antiperspirant ingredient, so it is a deodorant.11
18 of 21
Baking soda is the other thing to check
18 of the 21 list no baking soda. Schmidt's Aluminum-Free Deodorant, Bergamot & Lime, PAPATUI Aluminum-Free Deodorant (Cedar Sport), and Native Aluminum-Free Deodorant, Unscented list sodium bicarbonate, the label name for baking soda.12
All 21 aluminum-free deodorants we checked
Each one lists no aluminum compound in its ingredients. Cheapest per ounce first.
Baking soda and fragrance come from the ingredient list on each product's Amazon listing, which we read ourselves. Sold for is what the Amazon title says. Per ounce = price divided by all the ounces in the listing. Each row's source is listed under Sources.

Questions people ask
Does aluminum-free deodorant stop sweat?
No. It works on odor, not sweat. The FDA says an antiperspirant is a medicine that stops sweat glands from making sweat, and a deodorant is not a medicine and just covers up the odor of sweat.14
Is crystal or mineral deodorant aluminum-free?
No. Crystal and similar mineral deodorants use potassium alum, which is an aluminum salt. See the section above.8, 9
Which aluminum-free deodorants have no baking soda?
18 of the 21 on this page list no baking soda. The ones that do are Schmidt's Aluminum-Free Deodorant, Bergamot & Lime, PAPATUI Aluminum-Free Deodorant (Cedar Sport), and Native Aluminum-Free Deodorant, Unscented.
Can you use whole-body deodorant on feet and the groin?
That depends on the maker, so read the directions on the product. Old Spice says “Apply to underarms only.” Degree says “Apply a thin, even layer to the desired area, avoiding the face.” Mando's Amazon title says “Use on underarms, chest, feet & below the belt.”
Do aluminum-free deodorants work?
For odor, buyers rate the top ones well. Old Spice Aluminum Free Deodorant for Men, Sport, 3-pack has 4.7 stars from 35,034 Amazon ratings.2, 3 For sweat, use an antiperspirant instead.
